Incident monitor API · Beta

Outbreaks, disasters
and conflict,
as data.

The same reports as our live incident map, as JSON or GeoJSON: outbreaks, disasters, conflict, unrest and attacks on health care, each with its place, date, certainty and a link to the original source. Summaries are in our own words. Free for humanitarian, research and non-commercial use.

Automated and partly machine-translated. Indicative only: not medical, security or travel advice.

 "country": "Democratic Republic of the Congo",
 "place": "North Kivu, Democratic Republic of the Congo",
 "lat": -0.7, "lon": 29.2,
 "date": "2026-10-26T09:14Z",

Example values are illustrative. Every list response also carries built (when the data was last updated, usually every 10 minutes) and licence. Errors come back as {"error": {"code", "message"}} with the usual HTTP status: 400 for a bad filter, 401 for a bad key, 404 if nothing matches an id, 429 when you're over the rate limit.

What's included, and what isn't

Only reports confirmed by an official source, or by two or more independent outlets. Single-outlet reports, state media reporting on other countries and our private sources are left out. Places are approximate: usually the country, state or province, not an exact location.

Licence and fair use

Each report links to its original publisher, whose content stays theirs. The data is automated and partly machine-translated, so check the original source before acting on it.
